Secrets of the Sommelier - A Masterclass in Wine

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a unique evening at The Culinary Center of Kansas City, and what a night it was! Our community joined members of the Windward team for an immersive evening led by Certified Sommelier Brent Grider.

We enjoyed an immersive evening discovering wine-tasting techniques, palate training, insider knowledge, and more. We started the evening identifying aromatics, professional vocabulary, and discovering food pairing secrets that elevate the wine-tasting experience. Through guided tastings of carefully selected wines served with light appetizers, we learned about:

  • Training our palate to detect the nuanced differences between regions, grape varieties, and winemaking styles. I

  • Insider tricks for pairing wine with food, understanding how acidity, body, and flavor profiles interact with different cuisines.

  • Proper techniques for serving, storing, and presenting wine like a seasoned professional.
