Income Tax Payments
Windward encourages clients to pay tax balances and estimated payments online.
Online payments are convenient and help ensure your payment is received on time. If you have questions about how or where to pay please contact us and we will walk through it with you.

A. Using your IRS online account
Go to: www.IRS.gov/Account
Sign in with your ID.me account or create one.
Important: When making payments, always use the Social Security number of the taxpayer listed first on your tax return (the primary taxpayer) so the payment is applied to the correct account.
Your IRS account lets you make and view payments, see your tax records, and check refund status.
B. Using Direct Pay (one‑time payment)
Go to: www.IRS.gov/Payments
Select “Direct Pay with bank account.”
Important: When making payments, always use the Social Security number of the taxpayer listed first on your tax return (the primary taxpayer) so the payment is applied to the correct account.
Choose:
“Pay individual tax” → “Pay personal taxes.”
For a tax return balance due: Reason = “Balance Due”; Apply payment to = “Income Tax – Form 1040”; choose the correct tax year.
For estimated payments: Reason = “Estimated Tax”; Apply payment to = “1040ES (for 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ)”; choose the correct tax year.
You will need information from your prior‑year tax return to verify your identity.
Despite the risks, if you prefer to make IRS payments by mail, follow the instructions provided with your payment voucher.

Go to the Kansas Department of Revenue: https://www.ksrevenue.gov/taxpayment.html
Click “Kansas Tax Payment Portal.”
Important: When making payments, always use the Social Security number of the taxpayer listed first on your tax return (the primary taxpayer) so the payment is applied to the correct account.
In the portal:
For a tax return balance due: choose “Individual” → “Income Tax” → “Normal Payment.”
For estimated tax payments: choose “Individual” → “Income Tax” → “Estimated Payment.”
Despite the risks, if you prefer to make KS payments by mail, follow the instructions provided with your payment voucher.

Go to the Missouri Department of Revenue: https://dor.mo.gov/taxation/individual/pay-online.html
Click “Pay Online.”
Important: When making payments, always use the Social Security number of the taxpayer listed first on your tax return (the primary taxpayer) so the payment is applied to the correct account.
Select “Make a one‑time payment.”
Then choose:
For a tax return balance due: Payment category = “Personal Income Tax”; Payment type = “Personal Income Tax Balance Due.”
For estimated tax payments: Payment category = “Personal Income Tax”; Payment type = “Personal Income Tax Estimated Payment (1040ES).”
Despite the risks, if you prefer to make MO payments by mail, follow the instructions provided with your payment voucher.
