Windward provides holistic or comprehensive wealth management services. The starting point is a clear, all-encompassing picture of your financial world and understanding your goals and values. We work side by side to refine those goals and put together custom plans based on what's important to you. Comprehensive wealth management is more than investment management - it involves protecting each aspect of your financial life and thinking through best and worst-case scenarios.

Windward is a fee-only registered investment advisor. We are compensated directly by our clients. We do no accept any kind of commission, referral or trailing fees. If you have over $500,000 in investments assets under our management we charge 1% annually (.25% quarterly, debited from the investment accounts). That annual percentage decreases once investment assets under our management reach over $3,000,000. If you have under $500,000 in assets we charge an annual retainer fee that we base on the complexity of your financial situation and the assigned advisory team. Retainer fees are quoted in advance, after learning more about the your situation.
If you have over $1,500,000 in investment assets under our management, our fee includes all of our wealth management services including income tax return preparation. If you have less than $1,500,000 in investment assets under our management, our fee includes all of our wealth management services, which includes income tax planning, but does not include income tax return preparation. Where income tax return preparation is requested, there is an additional fee based on the return's complexity.
We believe that the nature of planning is ongoing and ever-changing. Because of this, we do not provide one-time financial plans nor hourly financial planning services.
You will work with a dedicated team of experienced advisors that will know you personally. Windward works in wealth management teams, which we believe improves our advice and offers a range of experience. Your team personally answers your calls, meets with you regularly to build, refine and review your plans, and is readily available to address your questions and concerns. You can read more about our teams here.
Defining the purpose of the funds is the first step. Is this for retirement? A down payment on a home? Your child's education fund? Once the goal of the funds is clear, we work to understand what kind of investor you are. Are you comfortable with volatility? What kind of investment experience do you have? What is your net worth? When do you need to access the funds? Once we have a picture of your goals and the kind of investor you are, we put together an Investment Policy Statement. The Investment Policy Statement documents your goals and investment strategy and serves as the blueprint to how your portfolio will be invested.
